A Hundred Boat People Vowed To Commit Self Incineration Today!
[By our press] Today is the nineteenth commemoration of the fall of
Saigon, Au Lac. According to information, some Au Lac refugees
detained in Hong Kong planned to commemorate with self
incineration, to protest against the forced repatriation policy of
the Hong Kong Government. There is rumor that more than a hundred
persons have signed the death pledge, and is prepared to "wake up
the world with their death". Therefore, the Correctional
Department Services has already sent in reinforcement to handle
emergencies.
On the other hand, more than thirty Formosa Legislators wrote
to the Hong Kong Governor Patten, wishing the Hong Kong Government
would negotiate with the Au Lac Government on the refugees issue.
They also wish Chief Lian Jian of the Formosa Executive House, on
account of humanity and human rights, would urge the Hong Kong
Government not to handle the relocation of the refugees in inhuman
