Spiritual Inspiration Quotes

(from the Supreme Master Ching Hai, unless quoted otherwise)

15

If we are pure at heart, we would not wish one person well and not another. We should see there is no difference between one person or another. Then our pure thoughts can be evenly spread between all people. Sunshine can reflect on clean water but not on dirty water. God's light will be reflected by those persons with a pure heart.

--Hari Dass

If one can see stillness in action, and action in stillness, one is the wise one among man. Although he might be still carrying out many kinds of activities in this world, he has already attain the very high level.

--Bhagavad-gita

If one is not effected by the never ending stream of desires, in the same way the ocean remains constant despite a never ending flow of water from many rivers, one can achieve peace in the mind which can never be achieved if one still wants to satisfy his desires.

--Bhagavad-gita

If we don't love ourselves, we would not love others. When someone tell you to love others first, and to love others more than ourselves; it is impossible. If you can't love yourselves, you can't love anybody else. Therefore we must gather up our great power so that we know in what ways we are good, what special abilities we have, what wisdom, what kind of talent we have, and how big our love is. When we can recognize our virtues, we can learn how to love others.(p19)

--The Supreme Master Ching Hai

We are always learning from each others. Only when we merge inside God would we stop learning. We will understand more as we teach others, so we rely on teaching in order to learn for ourselves.

--Hari Dass

Our bodies, speeches and minds need to be trained so that they will do anything we want. We can cry or laugh at once when we want to. Then it will be a natural response; we will cry when it is time to cry, and laugh when we should laugh. Do you understand? We can get angry when necessary; we can be gentle if we have to. We will completely become our own master. Then, no matter what we want to do, it will benefit the world. It is not difficult to attain this stage; all we need to do is to mediate.

--The Supreme Master Ching Hai

During meditation, if we can concentrate all our attention on one point, and put all problems in front of it, then they can be solved immediately. Our power is great, but we never use it. If we do not use our power by concentrating on it, then it seems we do not have any power at all.

--The Supreme Master Ching Hai

16

If we do not control our minds with our Buddha nature, do not practice seriously, are not honest to ourselves and do not examine our behaviors strictly, we will definitely be possessed by Maya. Being possessed does not necessary mean that we become delirious or our faces become horribly distorted. When we do not walk on the right path, we will be walking on Maya's path.

--The Supreme Master Ching Hai

Sometimes, if we are faced with obstacles, be they tangible or not, such as jealousy, worldly sentiment, greed, hatred or obsession, etc., there is no other way to overcome them except by practicing more diligently. You need to read Master's books and to listen to Master's tapes more often, meditate more, do Quan Yin more, put more effort into your practice and concentrate more on the path of practice. It is safe only when you are sheltered by the supreme power, no other way.(p20)

--The Supreme Master Ching Hai

Sometimes, after you have taken part in a seven, one or two-day retreat, you could feel that your level of practice had risen. That was because we had given our undivided attention to breaking through our level of practice. We knew that was the sole purpose of coming to a retreat here, so our levels were uplifted and our karma left behind.

--The Supreme Master Ching Hai

Those who believe in truth and justice and have a high morality are not vulnerable, as God will look after them.

--Koran

Only by spiritual practice can we break through our karma and the effects of the causes we have made. Only then can we escape from them. It matters not whether you have acquired any merit. Merit is merit. Karma is karma. Nonetheless, if one practices the Quan Yin Method, one can be liberated regardless of having any merit or not. It is so logical, so scientific.

--The Supreme Master Ching Hai

It can causes us great trouble if we do not handle our worldly love carefully. Of course we can love someone. If we use our love to help and encourage each other, to cultivate our aspiration to practice the path of Truth and thus uplift the level of our practice, then it is fine. However, if in order to love someone, no matter how good or beautiful that person may be, we have to keep on reincarnating in this bitter sea of suffering, then it is not worth it at all. This is how there is a good and bad side to loving someone. Anything has a light and a dark side and depending on which side you use, the result will be good or bad for you.

--The Supreme Master Ching Hai

There are many benefits to practicing the Quan Yin Method. Some gain heavenly wisdom, some have inner experience, some heavenly sound, some get into deep samadhi, some develop love, some have faith in God, some feel that they can depend on the supreme teaching, and some cultivate eloquence. These are the results of their spiritual practice.

The power from our spiritual practice is invisible but not that it cannot be used up. Since the world we live in is Maya's world, it is unavoidable for us to encounter many temptations and karma. Sometimes, this is collective karma and sometimes, our own. This karma affect each others, so no one should blame anyone else.

Deep down in my heard, I respect you very much. I understand that you are children of God and that your souls are clean. There is not need for me to say anything. I couldn't and shouldn't scold you at all. But then, if I don't reprimand you, you would not know your souls are clean. By scolding you for being not clean, I make you remember and understand that you were originally very clean.

Sometimes we are aware that we have problems. Only when the time comes and situation arises do we realize what kind of problems we have. In order to educate and help us, Master sometimes would use certain not so tactful means to take care of us; as only they will we know what we have done wrong.

The freest person has the most pressures. He has to watch his own behavior, to be responsible for himself, to give himself advice and guidance, to be punctual and to be a good example for others. If we are not free, it is much easier as we can wait for others to tell us what to do and we can always put the blame on someone else. If we are free, there is no one to blame, no one we can rely on, so the pressure on us is great.

We can scold people. When we have love, people can feel that we are not doing it with malice, but for the sake of taking care of them, so they will never be angry with us.(p21)

Before we have attained a very high level in our spiritual practice, we always have many expectations. We think that only when Master touches our heads and looks at us in our eyes for hours will we receive real blessing? No, it is not so! Master needs not do these things. But, sometimes I do so in order to satisfy the mundane longing in your hearts.

The merit which is worth praising the most is the act of receiving, because accepting what is given by others is in itself a kind of merit, a kind of courage and a kind of generosity. Why? It's because one has to forget his ego, his reputation and his distinguishing mind, before he can receive with ease. Therefore, I think that a person who receives is giving and generous at heart. He is very courageous being able to accept what we give him. (But, if you do it with greed, then it's different.)

We live in this world, but we should not be attached to it. We need to know that everything in this world is trouble and to keep our mind in the supreme teaching, just like lotus flowers in a muddy lake without being contaminated.(p22)

If you encounter problems, just try to meditate more and they will be gone. We have problems because we do not meditate enough. It is the same with me. The times when I have problems are those when I have not meditated. I would quickly start to meditate and do Quan Yin and the problems would disappear.(p23)

18

Ugly things can be charming sometimes. In the eyes of the enlightened everything has its own beauty.(p24)

The eight precepts are not just fasting. To get rid of impure thoughts, habits and bad influences from the outside are the main objectives.(p25)

Everyone is Buddha. It is possible that they may not realize it. We should still respect them and treat them like ourselves. Be strict with tolerance and be loving with detachment.

There was not any secret way with which I realized God. I had nothing in my mind but wholehearted sincerely to practice spiritually. I though of nothing or nobody else, and I wanted nothing else.

Respect for others and low self-esteem are not the same. To respect someone is to recognize his position and to recognize your own position as well. We should try our best to do our part and not to do lower ourselves in order to please others.

Due to the change of the internal vibrations while we are practicing "Quan Yin", new ideas will come up and new cells will grow. At that time, it is as if we were reborn. This is so called "rejuvenation" or born again.

Spiritual practitioners should become more broad- minded all the time, so that is enough room to accommodate God's blessing. When our mind is broad enough to take up the whole universe, we have realized God.

The more we hoard for ourselves, the more we lose; and the more we give, the more we gain, which is the law of the universe.(p30)

A true love is to warn and to help people to be enlightened and stay away from wrong things. It is not to protect them from the bad consequences of their actions.(p26)

Meditation is not merely sitting there. You have to be concentrating with a pure and merciful heart, otherwise you are just idling.(p27)

It is more rewarding for us to achieve a goal which we thought not possible in the beginning. It is not really good for us if thing goes smoothly and we can accomplish anything easily, without really hard working. This is why there are obstacles. We need to work hard on our path of practice.(28)

We can be good in our spiritual practice but we still need to be skillful in handling matters in this world. Only when we are good in both aspects, can we have self-confidence and feel that we truly have the great power within.(p29)

Nobody but the person himself can carry out his spiritual practice, light the lamp and walk the path. Of course, when we are sick and cannot go on, Master would hold us and carry us forward. However, if we resist and want to go the other way, Master can only stay behind us. Even though Master knows that her disciples are moving further away from the right path, She can only follow them. Master will never give up on Her disciples, yet would not interfere with our decisions.(p31)

A simple life is the secret of longevity for we can absorb whatever we eat. A life of luxury is not really good, because when we satisfy one desire. The happiness of material fulfillment will not be able to truly satisfy anyone in this world.(p32)

When we gain self-respect, then no matter what level of spiritual practice we are in, we will feel contented, not lacking anything. We are very close to the essence of perfection.

19

There are many traps on our path of practice in which we are deceived by ourselves. We can take precautions against traps from the outside world or from the Maya, but it is not that simple if we deceive ourselves. For example: there are many wrong aspects in our characters or habits that we are not even aware of.

The more we practice, the more alert we need to be; otherwise we will easily fall into a corner. If we are dropped there, we will not be able to learn from other aspects. So we must not indulge in any level of experience. It was because of this that the Diamond Sutra had stated: "Let there be no addiction, let our hearts be free."

Advanced method of spiritual practice are always very simple. Because they are so ordinary and simple, people could not understand them. People are used to complicated systems.

Every day we must meditate, both in the morning and in the evening, whether we are monastic or lay practitioners. We meditate in the morning so that we can face the day's polluted gifts. We meditate in the evening so that we are protected and in peace at night, and so that we can cleanse the contaminated atmosphere of the day.

It is even more necessary for spiritual practitioners to know how to protect themselves, because they have precious jewels inside. The negative forces like to get close to people who practice well.

Sometimes we can have a good practicing method, a very good path; however, if we lack confidence and a strong desire for the Truth, we still can not achieve much result in our spiritual practice.

If our level of practice is not so bright, but we have repentance, sincerity and pray daily, God's grace will still be bestowed upon us.

There is no one, who is a vegetarian, who strictly keeps the precepts and meditates daily that will not gain benefit from doing so. Anyone who follows Master's instructions will become a fairy, Bodhisattva, saint or arahant.

This world is a school, the best university. One suffers too much in hell, and one is too happy in heaven. Only in this world we have happiness, anger, sadness and joy, which make us reflect, learn and discipline ourselves everyday. The more we are disciplined, the stronger we will become.

Why is there such pain and suffering in this world? It is because we need to appreciate the sufferings of others before we can expand our hearts. The bigger our hearts expand, the greater we will become and the closer we will be with Creation. If we still feel that we are separated and we still think for ourselves, then we cannot be at one with Creation.

When you love an enlightened master, Her good qualities will be yours. Her blessings will be bestowed upon you. You will become more and more intelligent, at ease and wise.

You are making progress on the path of spiritual practice when you have developed a loving heart, not when you can meditate a lot everyday not at all! We should have more affections and forgiveness towards others, and not to mind the level of experience.

When we meditate we should be sincere, so sincere that it is as if we are meditating for the last time, or as if we are to die the next day, or in five minutes. If we have this attitude in our heart when meditating we will have achievement.

Only when we feel deeply that this world is ephemeral, and we are not attached to it at all, will our souls be clean and pure. We can then concentrate and reach Samadhi easily during meditation.

The world is full of people. Each person has a different job. Spiritual practitioners are specialized in blessing the soul and spirits. As the world needs these spiritual foods, we cultivate them by practicing the Quan Yin method. It is the responsibility of spiritual practitioners.

We should share the merits derived from our spiritual practice with the world. We do not practice for the sake of ourselves only.(p33)

20

We cannot acquire humility overnight. We need to meditate and keep reminding ourselves to be true in recognizing our own faults. Only then will we be able to respect others.

The true bliss is to find where our own happiness lies. When we are able to find out who we are, how great we are, what power we have, and that there are spiritual planes without birth or death, then we will be truly happy, and our relatives and friends will be happy too.

It is not that Buddha does not wish to liberate sentient beings. It is that sentient beings do not wish to liberate themselves.(p34)

The less we know about other people's business, the better it is for us.(p35)

Only after our wisdom eye is opened can we truly appreciate the beauty of the Universe, that there is nothing happening in this world, and that all problems are created by ourselves. That is what is meant by the phrase "complete the opening of the wisdom eye".

If we crave for fame and fortune, we will create a lot of misfortune for ourselves. Although God Almighty is broad-minded, our conscience will not be clear. We are the only Yama in hell, and we are also the only truly enlightened Buddha.

We can accomplish more when we are running short of time. The more we try to solve our problems, the faster our reactions well become; our inner all-powerful wisdom will emerge.(p36)

What is karmic hindrance? It is something that we should not have done

because it will hurt ourselves, others and all creation. After that we will receive the retribution of cause and effect.

A practitioner becomes more and more ordinary; it is best if nobody knows that we are practicing.(p37)

As we practice we should put ourselves as well as others at ease.(p38)

A person practices spiritually when God wants him to. It is not because we have many talents, or we have written or said a lot that someone comes to join us in practice. If a person has an affinity for us, or if God decides that that person should practice the Quan Yin Method, God will use our speech, our behavior and our thoughts to influence that person.

An enlightened person should be very flexible. He should conform with the situation whatever it may be. This is the way to avoid "Ch'and syndrome".

The best way to change ourselves is to communicate with our God Power inside, and then let that God Power change us.(p39)

21

If you don't have trouble, don't look for trouble. If you are having problems, try to solve them the best you can; and if you are unable to solve them, then ask the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas to help you.(p40)

It is very important to be repentant and humble, but it is more important to love yourself. If you can't love yourself, whom can you love?(p41)

If we want to change our future, we must change our present; therefore, the present is the most important. Forget the past!(p42)

Teach your hearts to love all small and insignificant things! Not killing sentient beings is not good enough, nor is not killing humans or animals. Understand? We must have truly loving hearts.

This world will not be finished in one hundred years. It will continue. Our life after life will not stop either. The difference depends on where we shall be living, in heaven or hell, in nirvana or in the world of samsara.

The more we are pressured by time, the more productive we will be.

Rather hurt oneself, but never hurt others! This is a truth that should never be forgotten, this life or beyond. This is the utmost important commandment of all.(p43)

We can fool the whole world, and perhaps, sometimes we can even fool the

Buddhas and Bodhisattvas; but the trouble is that we can never fool ourselves. No matter where we are, we always know what we want to do, where we are going, and we know how bad we are, and what is our best quality. This the power that creates heaven and hell, and it exists within ourselves. Thus, the Buddhist doctrine says, "All is created from one's mind."

True repentance is not just to know our mistakes, nor it is to say that we won't make the same mistake again. It is to correct what we do, do it well, and do it better.(p44)

If we really love someone, we would love him the same, even if he did us wrong, or made mistakes. This shows we have enormous love, and that it is the true love.(p45)

One cannot learn the qualities of "truth, compassion and beauty" in one year, or two; it is God's wisdom, the power of the universe, and one can never learn it all.

If we believe ourselves to be weak, we shall be weak. If we believe ourselves to be great, we shall be great.(p46)

You can also meditate when you are lying down. Keep your conscious mind at your wisdom eye, close your eyes, but do not close your wisdom eye.

22

Heaven or hell, they are all created by ourselves.(p47)

Helping others to attain liberation, and helping others to know the "True Path" are the highest forms of help we can give; they also bring the highest form of merit.(p48)

If we cling to our past achievements we will not be able to progress any further.(p49)

Happiness comes when we ourselves do not change; what we remain the same

under any circumstances.(p50)

We have to respect ourselves before anyone else will respect us.

We do not work because we want to make money. We work to fulfill our responsibilities.(p51)

Making just enough money for ourselves is good enough. We should save time for meditation practice.(p52)

It is not that we do not have misery or happiness. It is just that we do not care about them. Thus, we are at ease.(p53)

No matter what you do, as long as your mind is at ease, you know that you have done the right thing. Otherwise, you should not do it.(p54)

When our mind is still, all the answers to our problems will be revealed.(p55)

The most comfortable feeling is when we lay everything down.(p56)

We shall attain whatever goal we set in our mind.(p57)

We work in order to train ourselves, to become more compassionate and to repay the debt we owe to this world.(p58)

Make wise decisions and act quickly in whatever you do, then we will be able to obtain the best reward.(p59)

We owe so much debt to this world. Even though you give a little to others, it is just an act of repaying. It is not an act of charity.

Any ideal which is illogical, too complicated, too troublesome and benefits no one should not be carried out.

23

Repairing and changing ourselves is the same as repairing and changing the world.(p60)

Having a retreat is very important. It allows us to calm down and to filter our any dust and dirt.

Cleanliness is a kind of giving charity because it gives surrounding people a pleasant feeling.(p61)

It is not important whether you are a monk or not. The important thing is that we liberated and have our wisdom eye opened so that we can help the world.(p62)

Our heart, body, speech and mind are joyous and open and we feel that way because we sacrifice for others and because we practice for our own liberation. This is the true spirit of monkshood.(p63)

We have to find our love and compassion within us before we can truly love others.(p64)

When we love someone, we give him happiness and we take care of him and protect him. This is a true noble love. If we want him to take notice of us or we disturb or torture his mind, then this is not love but hatred.(p65)

If we are greedy about other's property it is the same as taking their karmic hindrances. (p66)

Master is Wisdom, Love and Power. You cannot use space to keep Her away and you cannot use any distance to be separated from Her.(p67)

We have to be strict and very sincere with ourselves before we can be sincere with others.(p68)

Do not praise and thus poison each other causing other people's level to fall. This is creating karmic hindrance.(p69)

The purpose of becoming a monk is to serve sentient being, not to become a Buddha. (p70)

24

We have to repay God Almighty for the grace He has bestowed upon us. How do we repay Him? First, we have to practice sincerely, and think about Him everyday. Second, we help His children.

If we truly believe in God Almighty then we would not complain under any circumstances.(p71)

Remembering Master means thinking about Her teaching and everything She has said and taught us. She has taught us how to handle difficult situations and what to do when faced with Maya's obstructions.(p72)

We should always do what is correct, reasonable and proper. Then we would not experience any improper, incorrect or unhappy situations.

When we do good deeds the results would definitely be good. Even if the results were not good we would be contented, would not feel guilty, and would not lose our self-confidence or our self-respect.(p73)

Holding on to one corner and then using what we understand to criticize, tell and forbid others, means, "We have not grown up enough, we have not seen things from a broad enough perspective, and our hearts are not pure enough."

It is because you feel you are remarkable, that is why you are afraid. This is a subtle form of arrogance. (pride)(p74)

Our bodies need food to keep us healthy. Our souls depend on love to grow.(p75)

We should not like or desire anything of this world. If we do then we would cling on to it. Our hearts should not be attached to anything.(p76)

The things that give you the greatest fear, you should try to get through and overcome them. In order to help us break these prejudices God Almighty has to use a reverse method to teach us.(p77)

25

To be honest to yourself means to be honest to everyone.(p78)

Even if you have the spirit of sacrifice and dedication, but if you sell them out too cheaply, the people will not cherish them. It's not good for them.

Comfort yourself, then everyone is comforted; if you feel comfortable, then everyone feels comfortable. It is the greatest meritorious offering.(p79)

It's not that easy to become a king, it's not that easy to become a master; we should, only when we have enough merit to share with out disciples, people and subordinates.

We should try our best to do whatever someone asks us to do; if we are not asked to do anything, then go to eat or sleep!(p80)

A practitioner and an enlightened master or a living Buddha, when he comes to this would, even though he eats, drinks, and plays, he does so just to benefit others.

Even though we know we want to become one with God, we still need to experience it by ourselves.(p81)

The Tao cannot be analyzed with knowledge; the Tao is inner understanding and an internal enlightenment.(p82)

26

Relax so that you will be able to progress in your practice. Just be natural. Do not expect that everything will come out perfectly. However, you must be lazy.

You always over do in whatever you are doing. You never know when to stop. This is the real problem.

An enlightened person has no ego in his deeds. He's just natural. Therefore, we have no pressure and feel comfortable when we are close to him. Problems arise only when we do things for show.

Just look for it inside yourself! Don't talk and listen too much! It is always the devil talking.

If anybody treats us nicely, it is because we are nice.(p83)

You can never be wrong, if you listen to the natural responses of your inner real self. (p84)

Most of you find trouble and hinder yourself. You don't allow yourself to develop and to relax. Not being relaxed, your thoughts are blocked, thus your deeds are not perfect!

An inferiority complex is very harmful to you, and is the greatest obstacle.(p85)

You must have confidence! Release yourself from errors, put an end to your preconceived ideas, and set yourself free from the jail of inferiority.

If you didn't have any turbulence in your heart, there wouldn't be any turbulence outside. (p86)

Be frank with yourself. Be careful, otherwise you will be cheated day after day. It is like the patients who don't know, and refuse to believe that they are ill.

We pursue spiritual practice for ourselves, not for gaining other's respect.(p87)

27

The job of servicing others, of course, does not earn any interest or salary. But we have the honor to serve the sentient beings. The job itself means the highest reward and honor.

Sometimes we are born in a more depressed situation because God Almighty wants us to learn the fearless spirit and the courageous lessons.

We should do things without any purpose in mind. It applies to any job. Unconditional devotion is the best.(p88)

Having arguments or fighting with people is not considered as courageous. Whereas when we are filled with cheerful outlook and positive love within us, it beats the negative forces.

We should help the whole world even though we may not be able to help much. It is quite all right, we have already collected some experiences.

God Almighty needs us at any place, then that place is just fine. We should feel contented at that place.(p89)

Success or failure in this world is not the important objective. Sometimes failure is success and sometimes success is just failure. We need the wisdom eye to truly judge.

We have to be on the look-out at all time. When we do some thing, we have to be independent, logical and with clear conscience.(p90)

Although our atmosphere is formless, yet practitioners would be able to see it and feel it with wisdom eyes. Thus we cannot fool anybody.

If we practice well and have the power within us, then we would become Fearless Bodhisattva. We would accept the reality but are unafraid.

29

To want to practice and long for eternal liberation every is more important than to attain any spiritual experience.

As long as we do more mediation, we will naturally come to know the best answer to ant problem.

We should strive for perfection in whatever we do, so that we don't give others any reason to complain or worry.(p91)

We can do anything well if we do it naturally and sincerely. Perfection is found in how the job is done, not in the job itself.

There are certain reasons why scriptures were written and precepts were made, and these we should clearly see for ourselves. Do not be superstitious and believe everything people say without truly understanding, because to do so would show that one is without wisdom.

If we were to communicate with the highest power, get in touch with these eternal compassionate, almighty power which is also our own true selves, we'll free from the laws of this world and the Law of Cause and Effect.

The Powers which lay dormant within us are incredibly great! If we do well in our spiritual practice and have absolute confidence in ourselves then we can accomplish anything.

Whether or not we will attain Buddhahood depends on our hearts and on the power of our self-confidence, not on how long we "sit" and meditate.

We can benefit many sentient being when we meditate; since our vibrations spread, we brighten the entire country and elevate the subconsciousness of the whole universe.

If what we are doing does not comply with the original plan of the universe, we will feel frustrated and unhappy. This is why worldly people are always frustrated. Master will often tell you the original plan, but you never listen. Even if you do what you think is right, you will eventually have to make a change and go back to the original path.

Your qualities and mine are never related; I will never be affected. Like the fragrance of the flowers, you can enjoy it freely when you want to, but even if you don't want to, it will not change.

The most significant difference between the Buddha and the devil is -- the Buddha is always giving, while the devil is always taking. It is the quality of the devil to occupy the time and space of other people.

How much food and possessions we have in this lifetime was written before we were born. However, we can be above it with the power derived from spiritual practice.

We will benefit in our spiritual practice only when we are patient and try our best, without being anxious and disappointed.

If we can maintain open minds, we will feel that everything is beautiful.

Strong faith in the path of the practice is both a blessing power and a great merit.

30

We should be the representative of truth, wisdom, and beauty, from inside and outside. (p92)(Originally In English)

If we truly want to have a successful life, from inside out, just like we water the plant from the roots, and not on top of the leaves only. (Originally In English)

If we are enlightened, all things will become easy. We think fast, we do things quick, we react precisely at the appropriate moment. And that's the key of success.(p93) (Originally In English)

Except we turn back again to our birthright, to our birth duty, to find God, to bless this earth, we can hardly overcome anything. (Originally In English)

We have not leaned to be flexible, therefore we stumble and we suffer. That's why we have to learn to get in touch with the real source of wisdom, and then handle every situation accordingly, without condemnation, only with love and with understanding. (Originally In English)

And that's how we have been busy our life with, after being so tired out with criticizing the world and trying to make people right.(p94) (Originally In English)

God makes us learn by mistakes, and by lessons, and by other people, other people's examples. (Originally In English)

To be honest with other people is the best protection for our dignity and our conscience. It's the best way for us.(p95) (Originally In English)

31

If we keep reminding ourselves of what we have done for others, we will be merely doing business transactions like the worldly merchants, and not truly giving selflessly.

When a person is enlightened, he rediscovers his own greatness and inner glory, and he will be satisfied forever. This is the best way to improve our shortcomings and satisfy our desires.

When we are pure in our deeds, speech and thoughts, even for a second, all the deities, the gods and the guardian angels will support us. At that moment, the entire universe belongs to us and supports us, and the throne is there for us to reign upon.

Certainly, we must practice diligently, but we shouldn't be attached to discrimination. We shouldn't be too stubborn in trying to be a certain person, for what is important is our sincerity, not our appearance.

It is more important to consider whom our actions might harm, whose feelings we might hurt, what is bad for others, or what obstacles we might create for ourselves, than to judge the good and bad qualities of others.

We must be trained under the circumstances of pain, injustice and misery. As we make a breakthrough, we will truly be liberated.(p100)

Actually, there is no such thing as fate. It's just a matter of having not done enough spiritual practice.(p96)

We must be brave and be a daring person. We can't lower our heads each time and willingly surrender to every little obstacle.(p97)

There is nothing better than love and humility in establishing mutual understanding with others.(p98)

We must never forget God, then we'll have everything because everything comes from God.(p99)

We are often tempted because we like the feeling of personal success. If we have a small ego and a willingness to sacrifice, if we don't care about whether others praise or approve us or not, then the power of temptation will not affect us so much, and we will not fall so easily under trials.

32

Like a child, we must keep our hearts pure and open to receive, so that we might progress quickly.(p104)

The work itself is already rewarding. Any work we do, if we do it in a relaxed manner but whole-heartedly, and try our best without expecting any reward, is already reward in itself.

Just let go of your small self and then you'll be big.(p101)

When you talk to people, try not to think that you are doing it. Pray to the Master Power inside, and then you'll be very surprised that you talk with wisdom, beauty and virtues that you never knew before. That is the way to be a master.

The Quan Yin Method is also a kind of martial art. With this martial art we can conquer all kinds of negative forces within and without ourselves.

That's the best way to get rid of enemies, to make them feel very touched, and then you'll win them; win them with love.(p102)

After enlightenment we don't want anything. We may have a lot of money, but we don't care for it. We might have a very big house, a nice house, but we don't feel attached to the house. So that is freedom in this life. That is liberation.

We have love, but no arrogance arises from it; we give, but no return of favor is ever sought.(p103)

We must work with logic, attentiveness and loving care. If we perform carelessly, the outcome will be sloppy.

We should see with our true eyes, and then we may perceive the true grace of God.

Precepts are there to protect people, not to be protected by people. Because they are established to maintain peace and harmony in our society, we must also consider the circumstances when we follow the precepts.

33

If we still get angry at others, still need others' company, or still need others to comply with our moodiness and opinions, then we are still within our own egos, because our egos make us feel separated from others.

We never know when the retribution of our negative karma will come back to us. It always descends upon us suddenly, and when it is least expected. Therefore, we must take good care of our actions, speech and thoughts at all times, and remember to connect with the Almighty Power within in order to raise our level of consciousness. Then, when the negative karma comes, we will have enough wisdom and power to overcome it.

It's easier to forgive than to punish. It's easier because you don't have to think about it any more, and that person is happy and doesn't gives you any more pressure.

When we are pushed into a situation, we realize our wisdom.(p107)

If we still do not have empathy with the suffering of others, or the capacity to understand the feeling of others, then we are still far from the Tao.(p105)

Working is the best time to test our patience and to exercise our bodies.

Gentleness always defeats toughness in this world; the more tender, formless or supple, the greater the power.(p106)

If we want to receive the wisdom or love of an enlightened master, we should not be too complicated; we must be single minded in order to receive.

Don't become a sulky Buddha; always be cheerful, be optimistic. If we force ourselves to be optimistic, eventually we will become optimistic. Who can force us other than ourselves? Unless we compel ourselves to advance, no one else can help us.

34

We should, at all times, rely on ourselves, be truly frank, and practice, for the

sake of being liberated from "this sea of misery" for the sake of enriching our knowledge of the universe.

Possession is not important, contentedness is. Be contented in any situation, and problems will be kept away.(p111)

We create worries ourselves, that's why we are miserable every day. We turn lessons into punishments, that's why we are so unhappy. Master will show you a simple way to liberated from the "sea of misery" treat miseries as lessons, just like studying at school.(p112)

He who truly respects himself will also respect others. He knows his own worthiness, just as he does others. This kind of person is fine, very confident, and never complacent.

What is meant by "enduring insults"? It means to be able to see clearly, in whatever situation, that it is our own karma, and not other's fault.(p108)

Whether a person is good or bad should only be judged by his purpose

and intention, and not his actions.(p109)

Do not find excuses to spoil your physical body. The more we indulge ourselves, the more we develop a kind of "individual self" sentiment. The more we develop this sentiment, the easier it is for us to sink into the cycle of birth and death.

Justice is good, but love is the best.(p110)

To help others is to help ourselves. We should try to purify our mind at all times, give our love and kindness unconditionally, and not expect anything in return. This is the best way.

35

The Quan Yin Method is also a kind of martial art. With this martial art, we can conquer all kind of negative force within ourselves and without ourselves.

If we have no attachment to this world, definitely we are not coming back.

You see, simple living, yeah stay where you are, enjoy what you have. This is in my thinking as simple living.(p113)

If all human beings are enlightened, the end of the world would never come.(p114)

After enlighten, even though in life we still encounter a lot of difficulties, a lot of undesirable situations, but then within ourselves we are unshakable.

The best idea is having no idea at all. Therefore, recite the five names silently is enough. This is the best idea. The five names are neutral, very holy and powerful. There is no need praying for any worldly ideas.(p115)

Through meditating everyday, the mighty benign power form God can moderate

or even completely digest any information harmful to our body and mind. This is why we must not stop meditating and studying the holy scriptures.

True happiness do not come from the high positions of the world, from the knowledge that we gain from books or society, or from the position that we have, but true happiness can only be attained through self-realization, with enlightenment.

After enlightenment we might shed tears but we are not miserable. We might laugh very heartily but we will not be attached to the flitting happiness which the material world offers to us.

After enlightenment we enjoy things but we do not possess them, we sympathize with people but we do not bind them to us. This is then the true happiness.

36

Sharing, it's just like planting more seeds, and then it will grow more, grow more, and then you get some back, more than you have sown and then even left over, to sow for the next harvest, again and again. You never lose. Even if you lose all things, so what? You came to the world with nothing, you have not lost anything. You have gained so much since you have come to this world. You brought nothing into the world but you have gain all things, you have grown up a big person, you gain from the world, you take many things from the world. So even if we lose everything, it belongs to the world anyhow, it originally did not belong to us. (Originally in English)

The real importance is to be satisfied with ourselves. We should never disgrace others' as well as our own consciousness, no matter what we do.

As spiritual practitioners, we should use the same kind of concentration as when we practice, no matter what kind of situation we are in, painful or joyful. Forgetting about ourselves, the worldly temptation and any other different situations, we should know that we do everything for God.

The more we think of God, the more relaxed we will be. It is like thinking and not thinking are the same, because we and God have become "One". At that moment, we are in a state of "Zen", even when we are walking, living, sitting, and sleeping. At that time, we have attained the Truth.

If now we have some vicious quality, we don't need to blame ourselves anymore. Just correct it. Because if we don't correct it, it is not good for us, regardless of the reason.

Any evil in this world is a kind of lesson for us to learn. Any worldly greed, anger and attachment are there because we can not find the real treasure. As a result of that, we are longing for something. We wander around, feeling as if we have lost something, hoping that one day we can discover that "something". Therefore, greed, anger and attachment are all buddhi and so is all worrying.

Sometimes, we experience suffering, illness and trouble, we think all these are karma. However, we should realize that they are blessings in disguise too.

A clean quality will naturally make a place become clean, beautiful and holy. Therefore, cleanliness is saintliness.(p116)

Unless we change ourselves through spiritual practice, we will not be able to avoid our own karma.

Through hardship, we learn kindness. Through every misfortune, we receive God's holy plan - so as to make it better.

Within the bad there exist the good. Just like roses have thorns, we can't always look at the thorns, we must gaze at the rose. (Originally in English)(p117)

37

Practicing is reviewing oneself daily, keeping precepts clearly, doing good deeds and not doing bad deeds, meditating daily, observing our own wisdom, cultivating our own compassionate heart, and realizing the Truth silently. This is then considered practicing.

If we are angry with ourselves, we should be angry only with our habits, our accumulated habits. Or we should blame the situation also, not to blame the Supreme Wisdom, the real Self because the real Self never errs, never make any mistakes. (Originally in English)

It is best that you practice diligently, truly review the inner self and also concentrate on the inner self at all times. Then there is no need for Master to correct and for the society to temper you.

You have to learn also to have your own initiative, to decide what is good for that moment. You have to be decisive and use your wisdom that is already opened. (Originally in English)(p118)

When we meditate it is also a kind of reward, because when we are able to sit, we really desire to sit for wisdom, that is already a kind of reward, whether you get experiences or so-called experiences or not. (Originally in English)

Try to be soft, humble and surrender, and you will see God better, okay! (Originally in English)(p119)

Look at the way you behave towards others and then you know where you are. Look at how much you complain every day then you know where you stand. Look how much effort you put into your meditation and then you would know whether you progress or not. (Originally in English)

We should always do things in a humble way, like the first time you ever had the honor to do it and like the last time you'll ever have the chance to do it, then I think we have never any problem. (Originally in English)

38

True love means the other party does not feel we exist, that we are not around him, not taking up his space, not making him feel bound. He feels more comfortable being closer to us; the less we bind him, the more he wants to come near. This is then the true love! This is the love of God, the love of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. (p120)(Originally In Chinese)

No one could leave a living Buddha forever without missing Him, no matter how that Buddha scolded him, because he knows this is the true love. (Originally In Chinese)

To criticize is easy, but to do the job is not.(p121) (Originally In Chinese)

Our willpower is very strong. If we concentrate it on a certain aspect, we will achieve the goal. (Originally In Chinese)

If we truly love a person, release him,, set him free. We should not always tie him down, expecting him to do what we want! (Originally In Chinese)

It is useless just looking at the enlightened Master without introspecting yourself! Probe into your own dark spots, the suspicions, the mistakes, and the aspects covered by your ego. Only then can you see your inner Master! (Originally In Chinese)

We must handle things when necessary, and with flexibility! We have to be hard or soft as appropriate. No matter soft or hard, fierce or sweet, always do it from our heart. Being sincere and frank, without any complicated thought, then ours would be a much better world! (Originally In Chinese)

Afraid of being criticized and judged by other people, you swallow your anger. This is not compassion, or gentleness. You are not doing this for the good of that person, only for yourself! This is selfishness, not a gentleman, not a nice person. (Originally In Chinese)

Spiritual practitioners should be able to judge, and know how to handle different circumstances. We cannot respond to all situations in the same way. (Originally In Chinese)

Whether you think you improve or not you can see by the change in your character, the broadness of your mind, the expansion of your magnanimity. That is the real improvement, real level. (Originally In Chinese)

Our talents also come from our wisdom. That is why the more you practice, the more talents we will have. (Originally In Chinese)

Enlightenment makes us more loving, more tolerant, more understanding. That's the best outcome. (Originally in English)

As long as you're sincere and remember Master's teaching, that is the best offering. (Originally in English)

Higher being not necessarily live in heaven. When you feel love, purity, compassion, if you have peace in your heart, that is when you are a higher being. (Originally in English)

39

Work is also a form of training. It helps us to assess our character, our patience, our talents and the extent of our enlightenment. Therefore, you must not be afraid to work. Being afraid to work is also a kind of phobia. The more we work, the more we will be enlightened. (p122)

I do not need you to do any work for me. I need you to understand yourselves. Only then you can organize yourselves. Only then you can be more humble, to have a longing to learn and a longing to change yourselves to be good. After we become humble, and want to repair ourselves, we will naturally help others.

Therefore, sometimes don't think that your work is hard. People in business work much harder than you do. It is just that the benefits are different. Even for a very little benefit they still work much harder than we do. We benefit others greatly, yet we still do not work as hard. So, I feel that you do not have anything to complain about.

A gentleman needs to know how to respond, when to go forward or backward, and what is tough or tender, then he is truly a good person.(p123)

We practice spiritually not to change the world but to change our wisdom. We change our concepts and thinking, and use your wisdom to change any situation that you feel is bad into a good one.

If we are prepared at all times, we can immediately turn around and change ourselves under any circumstances. In this way our minds will not attach anywhere. We will not be overthrown by any situation. If we are prepared at all times, we can immediately turn around and change ourselves under any circumstances. In this way our minds will not attach anywhere. We will not be overthrown by any situation.

If we want to change our world to become heaven, we need to head toward the direction of true, virtue and beauty. We need to learn from the wise, to seek noble ideals and the wisdom within. Then the world will become heaven.

You have to reprogram your thought, reform your action. Otherwise, even if you have wisdom, Master's blessings and the strength to make it be successful, you will still be timid and worry, and think that you cannot do it because of your old habits.

Democracy means that we have to respect to every person. However, those who have talents and wisdom still need to make decisions, and those who are in power need to work for the public.

We can succeed in anything we do only with God's blessing. The more we understand this, the more we will be humble, be grateful to God and our ego will diminish.

Only true wisdom is what we can rely on most, not worldly position or wealth, not worldly beauty or talent.

The other half of our soul cannot be found in this world. Only when we find our true selves do we truly find the other half of our soul.

40

It is very important for parents to take good care of their children. They also have to be serious in learning and getting enlightenment, to fully comprehend the teachings and morals. Only after enlightenment can we help our children by guiding them to a correct and better direction.

God gives us children to remind us to be good teachers, because there is a child waiting for you, waiting for your help, for your guidance. God entrusts you with a child, a fresh soul in your hands, for you to take care of him, to polish him, and to create a prototype out of him. Therefore, do not complain if you have children. They are your lessons in being a teacher.

Actions, speeches and thoughts are different forms of the same element. Therefore, our thoughts are equivalent to our actions. This is why we must watch carefully our actions, speech and thoughts.

God only arranges situations that will benefit us. Sometimes, we blame God for doing something wrong, but the fact is it's we who are ignorant of the truth. We do not know the correctness of God. We see only the outside and not the inside. (Originally in Au Lac Language)

We're too busy, developing ourselves in scientific aspects, In literature fields, in mechanical success and we do not try to develop the all, complete power.(Originally in English)

We must act according to what God wants, and in order to know what God wants, we have to be prepared; prepared in our speech, in our body and mind, to listen to what God says and not to what we say. (Originally in English)(p124)

Thinking that other people will get the benefit, we forget about our fear. This is the best way to nurture courage.

If we still think of protecting our reputation, our demeanor, so that people would think that we are benign, then our ego is still very big, not totally free from its preconceptions.

Any secret formula that can help us, we should learn it, accept it, and keep it.(p125)

If everyone could be meticulous and frugal in their work, the whole country and the entire universe would benefit, not only ourselves. Therefore, we should not waste too much even if we are wealthy, because materials are to be shared with the entire universe.

The more we waste, the heavier our karma is, because it is hard work for people to plant or produce everything from their sweat and tears. If we consume lavishly exceeding our blessed reward, we have to bear the remaining karma due to their hard work and pains. We have to compensate.

And whenever the situation needs our love, to show it, we have to show our love, and we have to show some actions, speech and thoughts always in loving kindness. That's the best for our spiritual growth and best for our fellow beings. (Originally in English)

We are an open book to the whole universe, so be careful. So whenever we think something bad, better cut it out right away. Otherwise very embarrassing.(Originally in English)

41

Nothing is truly difficult. It depends on whether we want to change ourselves, to recognize honestly which are the good qualities in us and which are deceiving and harmful to us. We have to be honest with ourselves because no one can tell us. Even though we know, but if we are too stubborn or too lazy to change, or too concerned about our image to admit and correct the fault, then it will bring a lot of trouble.

Since ancient times, all great spiritual practitioners, great kings, and great men have succeeded through perseverance. They did not succeed in an instant. Therefore, when we encounter difficulties, we ought to thank the Creator, God Almighty for giving us the opportunity to discipline our patience.

No matter what situation we are in, we must look on the bright side. Look at the optimistic side. Don't pick on the little things. We should turn the undesirable situation into one that will benefit us.

Even though we live in a place where there is no freedom, but if our hearts are filled with happiness and satisfaction, obtaining the inner source of happiness, then we are truly free.

There is a kind of freedom, which, once we have obtained, no one can tempt away from us nor can anyone destroy it. This kind of spiritual freedom can only be achieved by spiritual practitioners. Once we have this kind of freedom, even if our bodies are confined or tortured, our spirits will not be affected.

It is enough for us if everything we do is from inside and we know our own nature and standpoint. We should not imitate others.

Every time we extend loving kindness, tolerance and understanding to others, at that time we create heaven. (Originally in English)(p126)

42

The greater the challenge, the greater our spiritual understanding and growth. (Originally in English)(p127)

The most important in this world, regardless whatever our mission, is love one another, love each other. If we do not do that then we lack a lot of things. (Originally in English)(p128)

Whenever the situation needs our love to show it, we have to show our love and we have to show some actions, speech and thoughts always in loving kindness. That's the best for our spiritual growth and best for our fellow beings. (Originally in English)

We all have the same portion of love and power within ourselves, and if we don't use it, it's the greatest waste on earth. Doesn't matter how much we recycle materials, we still waste. The most wasting is that we don't know we have wisdom, we don't know we have God's power, we forget that we are the children of God. (Originally in English)(p129)

The one who gives offerings must be willing, pure at heart and have pure intentions, and the one who receives the offerings must have pure intentions and be pure at heart as well. Thus both shall receive blessings.

The family provides a very important lesson in your learning process. Therefore, you must take good care of your families, learn to understand their needs, and try to satisfy their wishes. The wives should not be too vicious, and the husbands should not be too authoritative.

When we free ourselves from the concepts of attachment, negative thinking and binding passions, then we are liberated in this life time.(p130)

Everything is a habit. We learn the way of wisdom is the way of flexibility. When we are so used to flexibility, so used to all kinds of sudden changes, we are so used to immediate action, spontaneous action, not preconceived action, that's the best way. (Originally in English)

Always rely on yourself, be really frank, and practice diligently, in order to be liberated from this suffering ocean, to understand better the universe and yourself.

43

We have to be something before we can talk to other people. If not, it's empty talk, nobody will listen. Even though they might listen, but inside they feel this is not true. (Originally In English)

We have to bring peace everywhere. We have to cultivate it within so that everywhere we go, we represent that. We are the peace, we are the Kingdom of God, we are the angel, we are the Buddha. (Originally In English)

44

The more we work, the more we try to help other people, the more we grow. (Originally in English)

When you are working not for reward but only from love, then everything will go very smoothly. (Originally in Au Lac Language)

And whatever job we do we have to do it wholeheartedly. Moreover we still have to help our fellow beings in whatever way we can, make them happy, make them feel loved. (Originally in English)

When we do something with concentration and spontaneity, then the result come out perfect because it comes out from God, from our real wisdom, from our real nature. Once we have some expectation or some pride in it, or some calculation in it, things go wrong. (Originally in English)(p131)

One more effort in helping Master's mission, to offer others the opportunity to practice, and to go back to the Tao are paving one more stepping stone on our road to the Kingdom of God.

Each and every Truth practitioner has the duty to spread the Truth in various ways. This is not for Master to do alone, nor just give lectures on the stage. (Originally in Chinese)

Respect anyone or see anyone with pure eyes, always good for yourself. That's the best way to look at other people. (Originally in English)

So before you misunderstand someone, or are ready to debate about something, you should consider whether you have understood correctly what the other person really meant, or whether what you are about to do is what the Master would want you to do. Constantly, reflect on your inner self in order to get in touch with your inner wisdom. Your wisdom will not misguide you. (Originally in Au Lac Language)

Actually our thinking is very important; we should take care that our thinking is always good. (Originally in English)

The greatest enemy our organization and we ourselves have is nothing but our ego, our own pride. (Originally in Au Lac Language)(p132)

If within a group, everyone has the same ideal, compromises with each other, and serves with a noble ideal, then it would be very comfortable and pleasant. (Originally in Au Lac Language)

We have to help also with social work. Whatever we can do to help lessen the suffering, that is the most noble work, which will not only be recognized in this world, but also praised by heaven. (Originally in English)

When sincerely working for Master, we will invent a lot of ways to confront different situations. We will then discover our own wisdom, ability and talent which we ourselves never knew before.

45

Why is it easier to become what we call negative power, or we call devil in western terminology? It's because we are lazy to check our thinking. (Originally in English)

If we are always magnanimous to others and forgive them, even when others have treated us badly we still treat them well and love them, then this is the heart of a child.

If we preserve this heart of a child, no matter how old we have grown, we are still God's children. We will not go to hell, or encounter any unfavorable situations. Our life will be very smooth. At least our heart will be forever happy. We will have an open mind. Any problems or obstacles would not make us feel greatly frustrated or upset. We would be very carefree, without burdening attachments on our mind. This is the heart of a child. It is not true that we cannot be children again after we have grown up.

46

Remembering the Master means remembering the teaching, the goodness of the Master, the love from the Master, and then deepening ourselves with this love, this wisdom, this goodness, and then sharing it with whomever necessary. That is remembering the Master. (Originally In English)

Whenever you always do virtuous and righteous things, righteousness and virtue will always come to your life. So that is the true protection. (Originally In English)

47

So actually sainthood is easy and ordinary. No one should even pay respect to us because we are saints. Because sainthood is the original nature of all beings before we came into this world. (Originally In English)

The cause of all suffering is not through an external condition, but it is truly our own attitudes.(p133) (Originally In English)

It takes a lot of saintly purity to believe in the Master, and to assign all credit to the Master. This is true, unconditional, innocent love. (Originally In English)

We have to respect ourselves before others will respect us. If we have no self-confidence, no one can have confidence in us. Not recognizing our own greatness, no one else can recognize our greatness either. (Originally In Chinese)

A humble heart is an empty heart - no obstacles, no ego, no arrogance, having no place to rely on. Only when it is empty, can it accept the precious things that a filled heart cannot contain. (Originally In Chinese)

To learn the Truth, all one needs is an empty heart, a humble heart, a sincere heart. (Originally In Chinese)

Everything in this world is really a challenge for us if we know how to conquer them. Then we go up to heaven a mighty leader, spiritually. And then we will discover many, many more values in the spiritual dimension which we didn't even know, even if we stay with God forever in eternity in pure happiness. (Originally In English)

There are no sinners in this world actually. There are only ignorant persons who do not know the purpose of their life and who do not know how to go according to the great plan of the universe. The suffering in this world can become nothing if we know our real self, our real great position in the Kingdom of God or in the Buddha's Land.(Originally In English)

48

In spiritual practice, if we are together, in one spirit and one goal, then we will achieve the greater benefit for ourselves, for whomever we love to share this benefit with, and whomever likes to share this benefit with us. (Originally In English)

We can cultivate a saint out of ourselves, or we can make a sinner out of us. This is only a choice.(p134) (Originally In English)

Love is the greatest law in the universe. Anything can be cleansed away by true love. So, when you do things in a charitable manner, do it with love. Don't worry about karma. (Originally In English)

The most important thing in this life, in our practice principle is loving others, loving ourselves. Liberate from all hatred, prejudices, criticizing attitudes, and negative thinking, because these are the negative things, the burdens that bind us to this physical world or within the three worlds. If we have none of that we are liberated while living. (Originally In English)

The outside represents our inside. You have to reflect your own inner level of cleanliness and saintliness. (Originally In English)

Whatever you do, you represent the most high, because we follow the highest path, we worship only the most high. So we have to represent Hirm in speech, actions, and thought. At least, speech and actions. Though people do not know much about what you think, but at least your speech, your actions are easy to detect. We should live a simple life, not an impoverished life, not a messy life. Simple is different. (Originally In English)

We should live a simple life, not an impoverished life, not a messy life. Simple is different. (p135) (Original in Chinese)

Very important to keep your place wholly clean for yourself and also for the sake of this world, for the sake of the universe. It is a corner of the universe. We live in it. Even if we live in heaven, it's also only another corner of the universe. Why don't we respect the corner that we now stay in? (Originally In English)

Do everything for your family, your society, for yourselves. Don't wait for people to make your life better and brighter. Make your life yourself. You can do anything. (Originally in English)

The only means that can provide security is to obtain more inner protective power and wisdom through meditation.(p136) (Original in Chinese)

Try our best to pray for this world, for ourselves, to protect ourselves, our morality, purity and the eternal power within ourselves. This is the only way that can save ourselves. (Original in Chinese)

49

We should practice for the sake of wisdom alone, for the sake of knowing ourselves, for the sake of knowing the origin of our home and to be free, loving and happy. That's all there is. (Originally In English)

We don't learn for the other people to know. We learn so that we know and that we can bless the world silently by our inner glory and love. (Originally In English)

We have to study again and again. Make firm start again. Today I failed. I didn't meditate very well. Tomorrow, next day, I'll make more effort. Always try to strive for better will, so that we can progress in spirit. And we'll become a stronger and wiser person in heaven. (Originally In English)

Always try to live our life with the most fulfilling program. Never idle your lifetime. Just do everything you want. Try to learn new things. Be outgoing. Be social. Be friendly; be loving to all the people and learn everything from each other. There is no need to sit there and feel miserable about your life, about your misfortune. There is no such misfortune in this life. (Originally In English)

If you truly believe in your goodness, in what you are doing, you will influence other people. So one person makes a lot of difference. But if you don't believe, they will influence you. They'll try to make a strong person out of your personality. (Originally In English)

Whatever you believe is good, stick to it and don't let other people make you waver; because the good example in this world is rare. So make yourself a good example. (Originally In English)

Actually enlightenment comes by practice and in dealing with other people. (Originally In English)

Great people are very humble. When we are not humble, we are not great. (Originally In English)

50

What is the spirit of Zen? It is to enjoy today, to do today. No matter happiness or suffering, it is all today. Understand? Don't bother about the past. The past cannot be retrieved, alas! The future is not here yet. But very few people will devote their attention wholeheartedly to the present moment. That's why everyone suffers so much. (Originally In Chinese)

All the suffering will end the moment we know our true selves. Even though we sometimes still feel affected by the suffering of other people, we ourselves do not feel such a deep suffering like before enlightenment.

If everyone practices the Quan Yin Method, they will be so happy, contented, and satisfied that there will be no more war, no need for anything. Because the problem is taken care of from the root.

The person is only habit and thought collected life after life. We are not that person. We are never separated. We are wisdom, we are love. These things are all over the universe. How can it be separated by just a layer of skin?(Originally In English)

Group meditation will help you with more power to overcome obstacles very quickly. So most of the problems you have are self-created. After initiation, if you follow the precepts, if you follow the pure vegetarian diet, and if you go to group meditation, you should have no problems whatsoever. (Originally In English)

51

Enlightenment doesn't mean we should all together eliminate the emotions. We just know how to use them. (Originally In English)

Every time we meditate, we thank God first, we pray for the less fortunate, and then we remember God with all the sweetness and devotion. (Originally In English)

The only thing that sets us free is the Truth. If we don't know that we always worry.

That's how the world will become paradise. Everyone shares with each other. Everyone becomes happier. Then no one will want to steal from the neighbor, to hurt the neighbor, or to do anything else, because everyone will be happy.

Only when we meditate on God - have direct contact with God through the light and sound, do we know. We know everything without even learning from anyone, without reading books, without reading newspapers. We understand profoundly, and ever-lastingly.

The best thing is always simple and unconditional.

52

Don't be defeated by obstacles and ordeals. Perhaps, we don't know how to react today, so we are frightened and defeated; try again tomorrow. We shall overcome someday. (Originally In Chinese)

When things are going smoothly and easily, be particularly concentrated; don't take it for granted and lose your humility and penitence. Otherwise, you will become sluggish and slow down, and will not progress further. (Originally In Chinese)

53

Anyone who is enlightened is the embodiment of the scriptures; they understand any scripture thoroughly and correctly. (Originally in English)

In this world, apart from our spiritual practice, there is no other place or power that we can rely on. Violent martial arts and nuclear bombs can only destroy people, not win them over.

When you observe any goodness in yourself, develop it. When you observe any bad points in yourself, rectify them. Look at the positive aspects. It is not enough to just rely on meditation alone.

It is insufficient to just listen to Master's teachings; you have to put them into practice after hearing them. Learn how to distinguish between good and evil, true and false; and use Master's teachings in your life. Otherwise, you will be influenced by your ego, your desire for profit and fame, or the society outside; you won't be able to even control yourself. Once we get used to these kinds of behaviors, it is too late to change.

Impartiality is, if something is good, then say it is good; if something is bad, then say it is bad. Argumentatively saying that some bad thing is good, or forcibly turning all things into the same, equal value, is discrimination.

The Master is your own original nature, not the physical body of another person. Your practice is not good enough, so you don't understand; you think that Master is another person, or that Master scolds you because She is angry. Not so! It is you scolding yourself; it is your karma emerging, and you cleansing yourself. Therefore, everything is created by the mind!

God is here if we are wholehearted. What does wholehearted mean? It is having sincerity, humility and one hundred percent faith in the power of the Most High.

55

If we serve with total devotion, we are forever in contentment, and feeling fulfilled. We won't think of demanding anything, as we feel we have everything in abundance.

Only when the mind is relaxed, we can think freely.

When we serve the multitude, God also serves us. Such is the law on which the universe functions.

Anytime we are required to work, let us coordinate the work. Then, we will feel ourselves progressing in our spiritual life, and we will be more humble and tolerant. The more we work and contribute, the faster we will progress. There is no need for anyone to praise us, we know it ourselves.

Don't be so frustrated, just live every moment with all your heart. Whatever you have to do, do it with total devotion. Have faith in God and the grand plan of the entire universe.

For those around us, we should try our best to make them happy and feel contented; this is the most important.

56

When you practice well, a few words from you can give great blessing to others. Looking at him could give him many opportunities to tie an affinity with the Almighty. These are your magical powers.(Originally In Chinese)

Magical power is: wherever we go, we cleanse the filthy atmosphere there. This is our magical power; and this is "giving alms of fearlessness," just like the Quan Yin Bodhisattva. (Originally In Chinese)

We ought to develop a habit of thinking of good things everyday. With the precepts and discipline, when we meditate, naturally we will think about God and get in touch with Hierm. (Originally In Chinese)

Always keep our actions, speech and though clean, because can help us avoid many troubles and sufferings in the future. Since our past karma has been resolved, we must not incur any bad karma now which will make us suffer more. (Originally In Chinese)

Meditation is also work. At that time, we are getting our spirit's food supply and energy replenished for us to go out and fight again tomorrow.

We are really enlightened only if we are flexible in our spiritual practice. We should act flexibly according to the situation, so that we don't get the "Zen symptom"!

Whatever you have to do, do it well. Devote yourself entirely to the work so you don't waste time.

To progress faster in spiritual practice, we must forget ourselves; be the lowliest person and do the dirtiest, the most unwanted work.

Being scolded by people is being praised by them!

Before we become a fully enlightened being, we must first become human. After we have become a good human, then we will become a fully enlightened being.

57

The future is in our hands really. There is no aliens who can do anything about it. There is no God who punishes us. There is no enlightened being who blesses us. It's only ourselves. We have to make a choice, because that's how we grow -- by making a good choice. (Originally In English)

We should practice for the sake of wisdom alone; for the sake of knowing ourselves; for the sake of knowing the origin of our home; and to be free, loving and happy. That's all there is. (Originally In English)

(Originally In English)

God's loving power exists forever and is always surrounding us. However, it is covered by our own preconceived ideas and habits accumulated life after life. Anything can be a good thing if we know how to use it.

Always introspect and we will know why we have no progress, and why our spiritual level is not high.

71

But still, despite all this obstruction and ungratefulness of mankind, we continue to do good. We still continue to improve ourselves to do what is right, because it is right, because it is the challenge of this world that we always keep the way of God, we always keep the commandments of conscience.
